THE HANGMAN AT HOME

THE HANGMAN AT HOME, Michelle and Uri Kranot

What does the hangman think about when he goes home at night from work?”

Inspired by Carl Sandburg’s 1922 poem The Hangman at Home, this VR experience is a single-user immersive experience exploring acknowledgement and participation. It’s not about hanging people, but about the awkward intimacy of being human and the link between spectator, witness, and accomplice. Five interwoven stories capture pivotal moments, revealing our shared humanity while questioning responsibility. The experience begins with a call to action — lighting a match to ignite the narrative. Users navigate portals like doors or windows to enter animated scenes, interact with objects, and shape a soundscape, culminating in a poetic, often playful climax.
