With the ever-growing digitisation around the world and the advent of artificial intelligence, the relationship between Humans and Machines has taken on a whole new meaning, far removed from that of the industrial age. The Humans / Machines exhibition explored the implications of emerging AI technologies and their (in)ability to imitate natural processes, human behaviour and creativity.
At the crossroads of art, science and technology, visitors delved into the heart of the relationship between Humans and Machines and discovered all the possibilities arising from this collision of two different worlds, but also all its complexity. The Humans / Machines exhibition was interspersed with large-scale installations by internationally renowned designers and artists.
A true showcase of Walloon and international know-how, this first Lab explores the theme of the Augmented Human : how can digital technology help humans to live better during their pregnancy or create quality prostheses for those who need them? Worlds populated by cyborgs, half robots, half humans, are still relegated to the rank of science fiction. However, the symbiosis between humans and machines does not seem to be such a distant fantasy.
Le Playground
As a permanent interactive space in le Pavillon, the Playground allows visitors to experiment with new ways of playing, to live new experiences and, at the same time, to understand a little more about the potential of digital technology.
At the Playground, young and old alike can experience the latest in digital technology. Thanks to these innovations, it is now possible to create collaborative music that never ends (Geometric Music by the Namur studio SUPERBE), to see one’s features in a painting by Vincent van Gogh or Edvard Munch (Style mirror transfer by the American Gene Kogan) or to fall back into childhood thanks to a swing connected to the stars (Starfield by Lab212). Because, at the Playground, playing is a serious thing.
Through these experiences involving the five senses, these interactive games are there to arouse curiosity and wonder.
